General Scope of Work
The practice operates in both the public and private sectors and has undertaken a wide variety of commercial, industrial and residential projects including offices, studios, shopping, supermarkets, factories, laboratories, retail and other warehouses, leisure, flats, housing and associated infrastructures.

Work has and can be undertaken throughout Britain and mainland Europe.

If the practice can be said to specialise it is in the field of cost advice, estimating and construction economics where it works in close collaboration with architects and engineers to optimise the cost effectiveness of design solutions and to ensure control over costs from the conceptual design stage to contract completion.

Construction Cost Management

With ever increasing pressure on capital requirements, clients of the building industry demand buildings which are suitable for their proposed use at a price which shows a reasonable return on their investment.

The role of the Construction Cost Manager/Quantity Surveyor should be to assist in the procurement of buildings at a price which fairly reflects the market and the circumstances of the project.

Andrews Denford & Boyd can contribute to this process as follows:
preparation of feasibility studies
cost planning and management
advice on the most appropriate procurement route
preparation of tender documentation
assessment and reporting on tenders
negotiation of price to meet client's budget
cost monitoring and reporting throughout contract period
recommendations on payments to contractors
agreement of final costs

Other services which Andrews Denford & Boyd provide to complement the above are:
advice on sources of finance
value engineering throughout the design and construction process
life cycle costing
advice on capital allowances
assessment of replacement costs for insurance proposals

Our experience has shown that, with our cost orientated background, the added role of project manager ensures that design and procurement issues are resolved with minimal delay and cost.

Our intimate knowledge of the construction process enables us to provide a pro-active and effective response to problems encountered either pre or post-contract.

Our management philosophy dictates that all parties involved in the construction process work for a common goal to the ultimate benefit of our mutual client.
